It was supposed to have been an early start but Ras and Amin arrived to say goodbye and that took a bit longer than we thought as Amin sat playing his guitar singing us some local tunes.  But eventually we were on our way.  We had spotted a Steers outlet on Africa Road (N15.58165 E32.54967) on the drive out to SOS Children's Village a couple of days ago so we decided to stop there for a spot of lunch.  No, they didn't sell ribs!!  But they did sell Steers burgers and chips.  It's a bit of a watered down version of a Steers but it scratched an itch!

We headed out towards the Sudan/Ethiopian border and wanted to get as close as we could in the time we had left.  We progressively passed through Wad Medani, Gedaref and finally was approaching Doka (about 60kms from the border) at 7:30pm as it was getting dark.  With loads of villages and people about, we were a bit reluctant to stop but as we got closer to Doka we noticed a secure compound on our right.  With an ambulance and police car parked outside, we thought that we would stop and ask if we could park up there for the night and if they were reluctant to ask them to recommend a safe spot.  Turns out they were quite fine with us stopping over.

We set Sully up and, as a thank you, made some tea with mint which we shared with the blokes on night duty.
