Day 029 Turkey : Istanbul day2

Tuesday morning dawned and whilst we were sitting eating breakfast in the early morning sun, we met Flip.  He's on his way to Iran and Nepal by bike - motorbike, that is.  We spent a lovely morning chatting and then all of us hopped on a mini-bus down to Sariyer (we are getting so used to them it's quite scary!)

We sat and had lunch in Sariyer on the banks of the Bosphorous whilst waiting for the boat to leave. a_SG101557

We had decided to change modes of transport and take the ferry into Istanbul.  What a sail it was.  Again, Turkish tea was served as we watched and heard Istanbul slip slowly passed us.  Passing under the outer ring road bridge across the Bosphorous, a_SG101585 a_SG101588 (isn't it incredible?) reminded us that we would be crossing that in a couple of days for our first trip into Turkey and into Asia leaving Europe behind.  It would also signal our turn in a southerly direction and one that we would be maintaining for the next year.

So it was off for a final visit to Agia Sofya a_SG101574 and a funny little moment where we realised that South Africa wasn't the only place with car guards!a_SG101573  See ya soon!
