Wednesday morning dawned.  Another beautiful day in Africaa_P1000547.  And a rest day for us at last!!  Hooray, time to catch up on washing and cleaning.  Washing was sent to the lodge laundry and cleaning was postponed for another day.  We lazed around in the hammocks, had a swim in the lodge pool a_P1000552 and prepared the goat that we had bought at Fringilla for that night's supper as Linda, Jacques and Tyrone were joining us.  The goat shoulder was turned into to kleftiko (slow pot roasting with oregano and cinnamon) and roasted leg done to a turn with rosemary and garlic all served with a greek salad and tzatziki.  YUM YUM!  After supper as it grew a little later and the left over Tipo Tinto from Mozambique was quaffed in quantities previously unmeasured by man (!!), the sheesha was broken out along with some mint resin and a good time had by all.

Despite the late night, we were up as the sparrows were calling on Thursday morning to go for a game drive into Kafue National Park.  Although it was the end of the wet season and the grass so high as to be taller than the vehicle, we had some great viewings.  2 male lion heading for cover as we approached, loads of the usual suspects in the antelope family (impala a_SG100160 and puku), hartebeest a_SG100174 , Cape Buffalo and loads of birds.  We stopped halfway for a cup of tea and biscuits and as we were heading back to camp, stumbled on another pride of lions with 2 small cubsa_SG100224 . Ahh shame! (Katie & Ben we MISS you!!!!)

Another relaxing day.
